Nagar Palika Municipal Board Muzaffarnagar


The Nagar Palika of Muzaffarnagar is the primary department which looks many important issues pertaining to various developments and smooth functioning of the district. At present the office holds 45 members for 45 wards. The major sections where the Nagar Palika works are:

  1. Public works section: which includes non constructed roads, total calculation of land, pacca bigha according to register, water excretion etc.
  2. Tax Collection section: which includes collection of house tax, water tax, cinema tax, rickshaw license etc
  3. Water works Section: This includes supply of drinking water to the public through enormous pipelines and water supplied through 32 tubewells and 4 overhead tanks of 6650 kilo litre capacity. Providing water connection is also the responsibility of the officers of this division. At present the authorities have on records 32206 water connection given to consumers.
  4. Street Light Section: This section is responsible for fitting in street lights in several parts of the municipal area and having a budget of Rs 20,000 per annum for maintenance.
  5. Public health section: The primary job for this section is Sanitation work and looking after the work of sweepers. Apart from the cleaning work, free vaccination centre for small children is also part of the work of this section.
  6. Girl’s Education: Nagar Palika also carries institution for female children education which provides education to almost 1500 children every year.

Apart from this Nagar Palika is also responsible for the overall administration, compliance of every government rules and orders, maintaining revenues earned and expenditures of the office

Muzaffarnagar Development Authority


Muzaffarnagar Development Authority was established on November 21, 1996. The jurisdiction of the office includes the urban area that falls under Nagar Palika Parishad, Muzaffarnagar and its nearby villages and urban areas of Khatauli, Shamli, Khandhla, Kairana NPP, Shukratal and in some nearby rural areas too.

The major work of the development office is to look after town planning and urban development led by the Chairman, full time Vice Chairman, District Magistrate, Muzaffarnagar and various others prominent officers the office executes development work which includes road work, making of shopping complexes, making of Transport Nagar and well-planned residential colony.

For better planning and development the whole district is divided into various blocks and each block has a Block Development Officer who is in charge for this development in their own area. The names of the blocks of Muzaffarnagar are Kookra, Baghra, Purkazi, Charthawal, Morna, Jansath, Khatoli, Budhana and Shahpur. However, to monitor every block and the works of Block Development Officers there is a Chief Development Officer who is the overall in charge of the whole initiative.

Collector Office Muzaffarnagar


One of the most important or the primary pillar of administration in a district is the District Magistrate/Collector Office. The major work of the office is to maintain law and decorum and execute Government rules and orders and take proper action as and when required towards righteousness and thus maintaining peace and harmony in the district. Being the topmost administrator of the district the owner of the office remains responsible and liable to instruct the police department also as and when required.

The major works of this office as a collector includes collecting of land revenue, maintaining land records, land acquisition and looking after proper settlement of the refugees. Apart from this as a collector, the District Magistrate remains responsible for maintaining district treasury, execute government programmes, help in emergency situations like drought, flood, etc and to conduct elections in the district peacefully and successfully.

Muzaffarnagar Police Administration

The principal aim of Muzaffarnagar Police is to maintain law and order in the region. To lessen crime rates and maintain the rules of the district is the primary object of the police department and the officers here. It may be noted that Muzaffarnagar Police falls under the Uttar Pradesh Police, Meerut Zone and Saharanpur Range. The Muzaffarnagar Police is headed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) assisted by the Addl Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police. Apart from this the whole area is divided into several police circles with circle officers and each circle into two or more police stations depending on the geographical limits and nature of locality. The Muzaffarnagar district is divided into 28 police stations for different localities.

Muzaffarnagar District Court


Muzaffarnagar District Court holds the responsibility of the execution of law and order in the district. The judgeship of Muzaffarnagar was primarily connected with Meerut Judgeship but later the same was bifurcated. Sri M Chandra was the first honorable district judge of Muzaffarnagar. However, the strength of the court has increased in the years; the members at the district court has also increased along with members in the outlying courts at Budhana and Kairana. All cases pertaining to the district is placed in different courts as per the nature of complain and for appeal one needs to do the same at Allahabad High Court.

The district court remains open Monday to Friday from 10qam to 5pm and all Saturdays except the second Saturday of the month is full working days.
