History of Vahelna


The land of Vahelna is considered as a place of miracles. As per the Jain beliefs there is an interesting story related to this temple. Long back, there were few thieves who used to steal statues from temples for their living. One day, they planned to steal the statues from Vahelna Jain temple and just when they were leaving the premises they fell down over the floor and lost their eyesight. The next morning people understood the whole story seeing the statues lying before them in an intact condition. They, therefore, put these men behind the bars for crime of stealing the idols.

About Vahelna Jain Mandir


The original name of this temple is Parshvnath Digamber Jain Atishye Chetra, which is generally called as Vahelna Jain Mandir. It is one of the most important religious and historical places of Uttar Pradesh. It is regarded as one of the holiest lands due to the presence of Parshvnath god in this area. This place is developed amidst the rich beauty of mother nature close to a small pool, which even attracts tourists to have a good boating ride apart from visiting this temple.

In the same premises you can find a couple of other religious spots as well. These include Manasthamb, which is 57-feet-high and Pandukshila, which are the two worthy religious spots to visit here. You can even find a Naturopathy Hospital and Research Institute. The recent addition at this place is the construction of a 31-feet-high statue of God Parshvnath, which was constructed by Jain community and with the blessings of Jain religious leader called Nayan Sagar Maharaj. This statue was installed in 2011 in February, which also attracts a number of tourists and visitors apart from the devotees regularly coming to this place.
